PROVVISORIO | Solo Exhibition @ Premio Grottaglie
We are pleased to announce the first presentation of PROVVISORIO, a solo exhibition held in Grottaglie, the city of ceramics in Puglia, Italy. The project explores the theme of the unfinished and the condition of impermanence through a collection of thirteen ceramic vases conceived as fictional homeware for unfinished buildings.Inspired by the widespread presence of incomplete constructions across Southern Italy and the Mediterranean landscape, PROVVISORIO reflects on the social, cultural, and political meanings embedded in suspended places. The collection investigates the relationship between beauty and precariousness, transforming the vase — an archetypal object of ornament and domestic culture — into a tool for critical reflection. Each piece addresses a different aspect of the culture of the unfinished, questioning themes such as abandonment, public investment, building amnesties, and the social dynamics that shape contemporary landscapes.Through ceramics, PROVVISORIO proposes a different perspective on incomplete spaces: not only as symbols of failure and decay, but also as places where imagination, memory, and new forms of beauty can emerge. The exhibition took place in the evocative setting of Palazzo La Sorte, within the historic former stables of the palace, in Grottaglie (TA), Italy. The exhibition was organised by the Municipality of Grottaglie together with the Ceramics Museum of Grottaglie, as part of the Exhibition Award within the XXIX Premio Grottaglie — Contest of Contemporary Mediterranean Ceramics, awarded to ORTOGONALE in 2022.
