ORTOGONALE Temporary Space — Pop-up Store & Exhibition Design
In December 2023, we transformed an existing space in our hometown of Grottaminarda into a temporary environment for presenting our collections and design projects.
The project was conceived as an exploration of temporariness, using a DIY approach as both a design method and a conceptual framework. The space was left in its original condition: no architectural interventions, painting, or permanent modifications were made. After a simple cleaning process, the existing environment became the starting point for a new temporary identity.
All the interior elements, including the furniture and display structures, were entirely designed and handcrafted by us using a low-cost, self-built approach. With a limited budget of approximately €300, we developed a system of simple and reversible structures inspired by temporary architectures, where the furniture itself became part of the spatial narrative.
The pop-up store was not conceived only as a place to display objects, but as an experiment in creating a temporary landscape where materials, objects, and space could coexist. A project about making, adaptation, and the possibility of transforming an environment without altering it permanently.
