Mondocubo’s ceramics. Behind the brand there’s an italian couple, Paolo and Rossella. They met in Naples while studying architecture and soon after graduating both found out that unfortunately Italy wasn’t the right place to start their own business. They moved to Berlin and started experimenting with ceramics.
I was lucky to be invited to their laboratory at the European Center of Arts here in Berlin where they walked me through the process and showed me some steps of the production itself. Paolo and Rossella started off with the idea of the classical ‘amalfi glass’ and re-designed it to be a modern and minimal piece for the table. Their Positano line, including glasses and carafes, is obtained by mixing colored porcelain and finishing the interiors only with transparent glaze giving it a rough effect on the surface and a beautifully shine on the inside.
As soon as I saw the whole Positano collection I literally fell in love with each piece and thought that photographing the laboratory wasn’t enough. I decided to involve the couple behind ‘our food stories’, newly acquired friends and neighbors, whose work I love. In the process of moving in together last year Laura, a photographer, and Nora, a food and lifestyle stylist, also started working together on their gluten free and low histamine food blog which is one of my all time favorite resources. Together we decided to bring Mondocubo’s Positano collection to life with this series of food stories — a beautiful collaboration of food paired with ceramics.
